inching closer to springtime…
Finally got some nice, not quite springtime, but getting warmer type of weather this weekend. In fact I didn’t put my winter coat on once this weekend.
Saturday night there was a Jersey Shore party at Cous Cous. It was a birthday party, but mostly a reason for all the boys to put earrings back in those earlobes from when they were pierced long ago and the girls to show lots of cleavage. Oh and for everyone to get a nice fake tan in February.
As I was editing the photos last night I kept thinking I must have had some sort of vivid coloring filter set on my camera, then I realized no everyone was just really orange. I was impressed with the level of outfits and I am now the proud owner of a pair of white platform flip flops which are safely in the back of my closet.

One of the cast members from the actual show happened to be in Richmond that night at some event down the street. Despite all of our tweets directed towards him he never showed. We had fun with our house music, Jager bombs, and orange skin without him!
Sunday afternoon was a pretty epic brunch at Helen’s. Although dinner_crue is quickly outgrowing most Richmond restaurants.

(we miss you Ian!)
Brittany, Hunter and I ventured into Maymont after brunch and Hunter brought her crazy Marie Antoinette wig. I was able to get some pretty photos of the girls even with the strange looks from passerby.

If you haven’t downloaded the mix from last week do it! Kevin from U or R’s radio station left a comment saying he was going to play it. (is that legal? is what I did even legal?) How he found it and me I have no idea, but take that internet celebrity Phil!
happy valentine president’s day

Ahhh Valentine’s Day. I was happy it landed on a Sunday this year, going to brunch at 821 with your friends and drinking the best mimosas in town is pretty great. And my dear friend Diana did give me this awesome Valentine card. Later that evening everyone else went to the Saves the Day/New Found Glory double feature and I stayed home and watched “Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion” (which I’ve never seen all of) and downloaded a bunch of pop punk that I didn’t have. Anyone remember Spitalfield? Pretty great.
The night before Becki and Corey came over and we did my photo of the week.
We also had some other fun.
In other news… Phoenix is playing a show at the Norva April 27th and the tickets go on sale this Saturday morning. Let me know if you want to go, I want all of my friends to go!

I got all 3 of these pillows for $14 from the Urban Outfitters 50% of sale. It would have cost me over $100 at full price. LOVE deals like this! I also bought new super soft jersey sheets and a bedskirt (also on sale). I’m never leaving my bed again.
Oh hi blog
I could apologize for not blogging but I’m not.
This past weekend started Friday night with a midnight screening of “The Room.” This movie was made in 2003 but it wasn’t until the last couple weeks I had ever heard of it. It is the worst movie I have ever seen and the most fun I’ve had a movie in a long time. Watching the trailer for this movie does not do any justice for it, but physically going to see it with your friends is what makes it. The moment I knew it was great was when everyone in the theater starting yelling “SPOON!” (because there were framed pictures of spoons in the scene) and throwing plastic spoons all around the theater. Along with guys in suits running around with a football and audience members participating in quoting/mocking/general mayhem the entire hour and a half.
Also “Oh hi Mark” has not stopped being repeated on a constant basis. The best was when I came home to find Liz and some friends playing a game in the living room, I said “oh hi Mark” to the group only to find someone was actually named Mark. I’m sure he thought I was crazy.
Saturday was a snow day. Breakfast, games with friends, laying around, making butternut squash soup, having dark and snowys at the bar, having a snowball fight in the bar, Becki flinging herself into snow drifts on the walk back to 319. Sunday was followed with a delicious Comfort brunch followed by hours spent watching movies/LOST on the couches of 319. In my 7 years in Richmond I’ve never seen so much snow in one year, and there’s talk of more for this weekend! I feel like I should talk more about the snow but all it’s done is create problems of transportation, clogging up the grocery stores and bring cold. Frankly I’m over it.
I never posted my 52 weeks for last week, so here it is. A few days after this was taking we get a foot of snow on the ground. Things I’ll never understand.
I’m still alive

Week 3 of the 52 Weeks Project
This week has been full of babysitting, the Parkberry mouse, bad karaoke singing, Jersey Shore Blingo, friends, dancing, capturing it all on video, reorganizing, my mom joining Facebook, Quelf, dinner_crue, thinking about the trip to Tennessee, and wanting to blog and just never getting it together.
The year is 2010.
Hi blog!
Christmas/Birthday/New Year’s 2009 went by quickly and was pretty great. First things first, with a huge thanks to my amazing grandparents I got the Nikon D90 for Christmas. The ante has been upped. Mostly because everything just works better with it. My flashes work better with it and in better ways, my remote works a lot better, it can do HD video, and is just all in all better and faster.
My parents hooked it up with a pillow top mattress thingie and I pretty much have an even harder time leaving my bed in the morning than before. They also replaced my Chi hair straightener, and got me a turntable for my birthday! I hit up Plan 9 and the thrift store the other day and am well on my way to a bad record collection! Yay!
I babysat a friend of a friend’s kitten for a couple days over break. Her name is Gracie and she is 5 months old. She has a disorder called Wobbly Kitten and it basically means her balance is off. She would be walking along and suddenly her back legs would just kind of give out on her. It was so cute and heartbreaking at the same time.

Parkberry hosted Liz’s birthday brunch where we went through 13 bottles of champagne. And New Year’s Eve was spent in a basement with more champagne, my best friends and everyone looking fabulous. Thanks to Anne and David for hosting that mess of a party. I’m betting that will be the one and only New Year’s Eve party for you guys, and I can’t say I blame you.

The rest of the neverending weekend (New Year’s Day was Friday…) afterwards was fairly uneventful, I think everyone was pooped from the holiday whirlwind.
I thought about doing a 2009 blog recap, but not only am I lazy but I have photos documenting most of the last year. As well as a Twitter stream with lots of stuff that I’m sure makes no sense now.
2010 let’s see what you got.

I got the camera (Nikon D90!) for Christmas, it’s totally great and I’m really excited to make the most of it. It does HD video which is a completely new realm of media for me, so I’m also excited about learning and playing around with that. (because this one isn’t very good) My own videos on my Vimeo account! Yes!
Snow snow snow
So this happened this past weekend. Snow for Christmas? Love it. Now I know everyone has been blogging/tweeting/facebooking about the snow but it is pretty awesome. This past weekend was full of serious hangouts with friends, sleepovers, sweet tea vodka, walking to bars in the snow with your best friends, snowball fights, #rvablizzard tweets, movies, blue blankets, wine, Joe’s Inn, igloos, all in all a great snow weekend. But now the snow is mostly half melted and everything left on the skreets are piles of graying matter.
I can’t believe it’s already Christmas Eve Eve. 2009 where did you go?
